The American Revolution (related to France)

On October 7, 1777 the Patriots fought the British army in the battle of Saratoga. When the Patriots won, they proved that they had a fighting chance in the American Revolution. The Battle of Saratoga was the reason the French assisted the Patriots in the Revolution. This came into use in the last battle, the Battle of Yorktown. The French Navy blockaded the Yorktown penninsula, making it so the British couldn't escape and forcing them to surrender to the Patriots. The Battle of Yorktown won the Revolution for the patriots and gained America independence from Great Britain.

The French Revolution had some influence from the American Revolution. When the Americans fought for their freedom from the Great Britain and British rule and succeeded, it inspired the French to do the same. Along with inspiration from the American Revolution, the French also took ideas from the enlightenment, like natural rights, which the French did not have under the rule of the king, Louis XVI
